Decorative Screens

At Touchstone we can place a new or refurbished leaded light in front of a double glazed unit to create a decorative screen. After mounting the decorative screen, the slim double glazed unit can be placed directly into stone mullions. A great alternative to secondary glazing.

Key Features:

  • By using refurbished leaded lights, it retains heritage and tradition while increasing thermal performance.

  • Ideal for heritage sites and listed buildings.

  • Beauty of the existing leaded lights is retained.

  • Decorative screen can be applied to fixed double glazed units and double glazed opening casements.

  • Combined with the double glazed unit it will ensure thermal and sound performance is increased.

Additional Information

If you have an existing leaded light, we can carefully remove it and restore it. After installing the new double glazed unit, we can then place the existing leaded light in front of the new unit creating a decorative screen.

The overriding benefit of this system for Listed buildings is that the majority of the original glazing material is kept (where practically possible) and the character and charm of the building is retained. The beauty of the original leaded lights and the patina that has developed over the years is kept and combined with the highest thermal performance double glazing which is expected for modern living.
