Touchstone’s Journey
We started Touchstone because of a passion for our beautiful heritage sites and an endeavour to make living in them more comfortable. By designing a glazing solution that worked for historic buildings, our journey has seen us help transform listed buildings and landmarks across the United Kingdom. Here’s a snapshot of some of our proudest achievements.

2009
A new business with new ideas
With 25 years experience in the stained glass and leaded lights, but with a desire to make our beautiful British heritage sites as thermal efficient as possible, we started Touchstone.
2010
Double glazing for a grade II
We proudly fitted our windows in Manningham Library. Our first listed building. Manningham Library went onto win many awards for its restoration.
2011
Moved to Albion Mill, West Yorkshire
Setting up in Albion Mill meant we had a workshop and a showroom in one place. Everything designed and manufactured by hand in our Yorkshire workshop, which is something we are really proud of.
2012
Achieved an ‘A ‘ rating for glazing performance
Our Steel windows became the first ever to receive an ‘A’ rating for energy performance. This was a fantastic landmark.
2013
Restoring Durham Library
We were able to protect Morris Singer’s famous bronze windows by keeping the original frames and installing our double glazed units. We achieved thermal efficiency but kept the buildings original aesthetics.
2014
making progress at G14
Our first year at the Glazing Awards saw us achieve second place against some big household names. A remarkable achievement in such a short space of time.
2015
Trademark recieved
Insulead® and Steelyte® gained an official trademark. We were delighted that our innovation was recognised as bespoke and individual.
2016
Borde Hill House (Grade II*)
Set in West Sussex, we were delighted when we were awarded the contract to replace the beautiful Borde Hill’s house windows. Our first grade II* building!
2017
Halifax Piece Hall (Grade I)
Transforming the Grade I listed Halifax Piece Hall was a proud moment. Not only because it was a local project but one that won the Yorkshire project of the year at the Royal Institution of the Chartered Surveyors Awards.
2018
New workshop, new ambitions
By expanding our workshop, we were able to undertake even larger projects. Our design team, showroom and workshop still remains under one roof. Please come and take a look for yourself!
2019
Double Glazing for Lancaster Castle (Grade I)
Founded in the 11th century, it was fantastic to be able to restore a piece of history. It was great to maintain tradition but also achieve thermal efficiency for a section of the castle that was undergoing an extensive renovation.
2020
Making developments with new technologies
Our product development in 2020 has been very exciting. Finding new ways to achieve even better thermal efficiency and produce even larger unique windows have been at the forefront of our plans. We can’t wait for 2021!
2021
Best Customer Care Initiative Finalist
It was fantastic to be recognised as a company who delivers great customer service and care. We pride ourselves in making sure every customer has the best Touchstone experience.
2022
