Our Insulead® fixed units use a perimeter edging made of lead which is fully soldered at the joints. The lead profile can take a maximum 28mm wide double glazed unit but can be reduced down to a minimum of 16mm if required. Due to Insulead’s unique ability to take any thickness of unit (28mm standard) it is possible to incorporate specialised glass for the purposes of security, UV filtration, energy conservation and sound inhibition all whilst maintaining a traditional appearance. We also offer our own Albion Crowne glass as an option that can be supplied toughened ideal for use when isothermal glazing is required. Due to Insulead® being able to double glaze any shape, it makes it ideal for out of square and arrow-slit windows.

Our standard Insulead® unit comprises of a full 28mm unit made up of Pilkington KA toughened on the inside pane with Pilkington Optiwhite toughened on the outside using Swiss U warm edge spacer bar. Touchstone’s frameless fixed lights are fully drained and thermally broken. In the unlikely event of water ingress through, for example, stone porosity, the inbuilt drainage channels allow the water to exit to the outside via weep holes, which also allow the building to breathe. Our Leadlyte leaded lights are and crafted using traditional methods. We provide a full repair & restoration service to leaded lights and stained glass. It is even possible to use the original glazing either within the double glazing or mounted in front or behind as a decorative screen.
